The CHIAN FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
About our Programs
The Federation’s hallmark initiative, The Chian Federation Scholarship Foundation, supports education and the preservation of our Greek heritage and culture, by instilling pride and cultivating individuals who will give back to our community. These scholarships are supported by the generosity of our dedicated members and friends.
Since its establishment in 2019, The Chian Federation Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $65,000 to students studying in the United States, in Greece and other European universities. See a list of recipients below.
In addition, the Chian Federation Scholarship Foundation supports students at Queens College, the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies by providing $2,000 annually to students chosen by the program.
We are currently accepting applications. Submit your application by June 9th 2025.
There are two scholarship funds to select from.
THE CHIAN FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Chian Federation Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students of Chian descent, as well as Greek and non-Greek students of Greek and Modern Greek Studies; as well as grants for academic research and publications under the guidelines set by the Chian Federation Scholarship Foundation.
THE HELEN CHIOTES SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Helen Chiotes Scholarship Fund is generously funded by the late Ms. Helen Chiotes, an extensive philanthropist, and staunch advocate and supporter of major US/Hellenic and Orthodox causes; and the recipient of the Chian Federation’s 38th Homeric Award.
The Chian Federation is grateful to Ms. Chiotes for this generous donation and pledges to honor the Chiotes name and family by selecting stellar individuals to benefit from this scholarship, who will also become great members of our community and emulate Ms. Chiotes example of charity and caring.
APPLICATION
The two funds have different criteria for eligibility, so please take a look at the application before deciding which fund to apply for.
